About Me

My photo
Heather MacKenzie, The Picture Poet
Heather MacKenzie is a locally connected artist who has an emotional link with her subjects. Her art style has evolved from representational to mostly impressionism, where she uses watercolor imagery to evoke feeling. She grew up in Chatham, Cape Cod, and went to Mass. College of Art on scholarship. At ‘MassArt’, she was drawn to photography and filmmaking. After graduating, she moved to L.A. and worked in film, which landed her a position with the ABC network. She became a camerawoman/editor for the news and embarked on a fabulous career, traveling the world while documenting historical events. Heather also earned an MFA degree in television and film from ULCA. Heather MacKenzie considers her art her PASSION, her expression of the mysterious beauty unique to the Cape, as important and fundamental as hugging or connecting with friends. “It just has to be, the fact that others appreciate too, is so rewarding for me!” Heather now lives and paints in Chatham year ‘round.
